Emily Kobert is an artist and animator creating richly textured and playful 2D animation. She’s from somewhere that feels made up and thinks about what it means be an artist who is “imagining Florida.” Taking inspiration from her childhood in Hollywood, Florida, she pays homage to the absurdity and beauty of where she was lucky enough to grow up.
Emily received her BFA in animation from Maryland Institute College of Art in 2024 and has screened animated films at Sweaty Eyeballs Animation Festival, The Jewish Museum of Maryland, Subtropic Film Festival, and was named a jury honorable mention at the MICA Animation Festival. Serving as an officer for Student Animators For Inclusion at MICA, she co-created and organized a student-run/alumni-juried animation festival for Baltimore student animators called Stick In The Dirt Animation Festival. She is based in Baltimore where she is currently working on an animated documentary.
Her cat’s name is Miss Boopie.
